What is Naturopathy ?

Naturopathic medicine, or naturopathy, is considered the oldest known healing system, and is  based on prevention, support, and optimal health through the use of all natural, non-invasive therapies and natural substances that encourage an individual's God-given ability to heal and  recover from the ongoing effects of the environment, lifestyle, and improper or bad dietary habits. By focusing on an individual's physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, spirituality and other factors, naturopathy encourages healthy choices and the elimination of underlying stressors and other causes of illness.

Whereas conventional medicine treats symptoms and illnesses, natural health focuses on the whole person. By concentrating on the root causes, Dr. McCartney partners with her patients to create a plan that concentrates on disease prevention and, when necessary, disease management.

On February 7,1931, the following Act of Congress was adopted to define naturopathic medicine. Although not passed by the Senate it serves as a formal recognition of the benefits of this natural health system.
